Water service is provided by the City of
Statham. The City operates and maintains a one million gallon
per day surface water treatment facility.

The City
also operates a spring system, which has been in operation since
1935. The spring produces approximately 120,000 gallons per
day.

Three
operators run the water system. Two of the operators have a
Class 1 license, and one operator has a Class 3 license.
Certified operators are required to do testing every four hours.
Along with
running the water plant and the spring, the operators also
handle water complaints. They also do all water sampling and
reporting for the State of Georgia.
If you have
a problem with water, please call City Hall. Upon request an
operator will come out and check your water.
If your
water is cut off for non-payment, there is a $50 reconnect fee.
Water will be reconnected during regular business hours only.
Utility
bills are due on the 15th of each month. A 10%
penalty is added on the 16th. Overdue bills are
subject to disconnect on the 20th.

John Damons
John Damons, who drove the city's
trash truck passed away February 21. He was a good and
loyal employee for almost nine years. He was a great
person and had a great personality. This is a big loss
to the city. John will be missed by all of the employees
and citizens of the City of Statham. Our Prayers are
with John's family.

WASTE WATER
Waste water service is handled by Barrow
County (770) 725-6639 and the
City of Statham. The City
maintains the distribution lines.
Another service for residents inside the
city limits is weekly garbage pickup service. Your garbage
should be in bags and in the City container by 7 a.m. on your
day of pickup. Cans need to be moved off of the road after
weekly pickup. Additional cans can be obtained at City Hall at
City cost.
Garbage Collection:
Over the past few years we have gone with a one-man operation
with our garbage collection. This helps save manpower and taxes.
Thank you for your cooperation in the way we handle our
collection. Several considerations have to be made for making
this happen efficiently and quickly.
-
Household garbage
only, and it must be in bags. This helps keep it from
blowing out when being emptied.
-
Cans must be on the
side of the road on a level designated spot, not next to
objects such as mailboxes.
-
All garbage should be
in a City container, and nothing should be on top of the
container or on the ground.
-
Cans should be moved
off the road when empty.
-
Extra cans are
available at city hall at city cost. Call city hall if you
need extra containers.
Letter to Sanitation Customers
Leaf and limb pickup service is provided
by the City as needed. Call City Hall when you have a need for
this service. This is for yard limbs and clippings, which
should be placed on the road right-of-way. Any major tree take
down and disposal is the responsibility of the owner.
Each year for one week in April, the City
sponsors Clean Up Week in connection with the Great American
Clean Up and Keep Barrow Beautiful. The City furnishes
dumpsters and encourages our citizens who live inside the city
limits to “clean up” and use the dumpsters.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART TO HELP US
KEEP STATHAM CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL!
